Patchwork Press is celebrating the release of The Lost Locket of Lahari! The blog tour features several posts that are part of a scavenger hunt. At each stop, we reveal one letter that, when put together with the other letters from each of the other stops, will spell out a secret message to announce the topic of our next anthology.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to the main characters from each of the short stories in the anthology. Take a look, comment on who is your favorite, and don’t forget to visit the other stops on the tour by clicking here to find all of the letters and solve the puzzle!
Meet Adara from The Seeker, by Kara Baird
My favorite quote comes from a Latin phrase: esse quam videri, or, to be rather than to seem.
My favorite food is anything bready. My father is a baker and has learned how to make the most delicious naan in the land.
My favorite music is from Aamir, Isa’s father. He had a small wooden flute when I was growing up. He would play it sometimes while telling Isa and I one of his fairy stories. I remember it added a sense of spookiness or cheeriness when the story called for it.
If I had one wish, it would be to cook for others like my father did. There is no greater charity then feeding a man who is hungry.
Meet Odessa from The Empath, by Erica Crouch
My favorite quote is, “Fortune favors the bold.” — Virgil
If I could go anywhere, it would be somewhere new and very far from here. I’ve always had an interest to visit big cities and get lost in a crowd. Maybe New York, or London. I’m tired of roadside towns. I want to travel the world.
If I had one wish, it would be to fix the mistakes of my past and save the people I couldn’t.
My worst fear is losing myself and not being able to maintain control.
In a past life, I would be Michel de Nostredame (Nostradamus).
Meet Olivia from The Dreamer, by Terra Harmony
My favorite quote is, “Hope is a waking dream.” – Aristotle
I think a fun date would involve a fancy dress, a hopping speakeasy, and a handsome beau on my arm.
My worst fear is to end up back in an orphanage.
If I could go anywhere, it would be Paris!
My favorite color is glitzy gold, of course!
Meet Emma from The Confidant, by Janna Jennings
My favorite book is For Whom the Bell Tolls. Robert Jordan sneaking behind enemy lines, risking his life to slow the fascist forces, Pablo’s betrayal… You won’t tell Mamma, will you? She would say it’s not appropriate reading for me. I’m not sure I’m really my favorite anymore. I think I’ve had enough adventures for awhile.
My favorite food is sugar. Anything made with sugar. Cakes, puddings, toffee bars, ice cream… pretty much anything we haven’t been able to make in the past four years.
If I could go anywhere, it would be home! I was old enough when we left America I have some memories of living there. With the war over I’m ready to go back.
My worst fear is losing Mamma. When Papa died it was like living in a nightmare. If Mamma were gone to, it would be worse. I’d be alone.
Meet Madeline from The Adventurer, by Ruth Silver
My favorite color is black. I prefer to blend into the background. It’s something I’ve always been good at.
If I could be any animal, I’d be a cheetah. I’m fast but I could always be faster. I also think they’re beautiful creatures.
If I had one wish, it would be complete freedom; never having to look over my shoulder.
My worst fear is being caught.
I have a lot of trouble with trusting others. I’ve been alone for so long, I’ve gotten used to it.
Meet Ben and Serra from The Dancer, by Kellie Sheridan
I’m not really a big reader, but my favorite books are the Percy Jackson books.
A fun date would be something super romantic and cheesy – whatever will make her feel special.
In a past life I would have been Charles Darwin – looking for answers to life’s big questions.
My favorite quote is, “Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world.” ― Voltaire
If I could go anywhere, it would everywhere! Paris, Rome, London. I’d love to backpack around Europe after college.
My favorite author is anyone who writes contemporary. Sarah Dessen, Stephanie Perkins, and Gayle Forman are my favorites.
I hope you enjoyed meeting all the characters!
And now to reveal my piece of the puzzle:
Download your copy of the Lost Locket of Lahari from:
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBooks, or Kobo.
This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to all who entered!
I’m having a great day so far, and it is about to get better. My husband has tickets (don’t know where), he got a babysitter (my oldest son), and told me to dress nice. Needless to say, I’m very excited! So…..
Let’s Have a Giveaway!!!
Okay, this morning started out a little discerning – at 5 am I woke to my 7 year-old standing over me with blood smeared all over his face and hands. He also had the widest grin I’ve ever seen. I pushed myself up, eyes wide.
“Something very exciting just happened!” he said.
My eyes got even wider.
“My wiggly tooth came out!”
* * *
As a good friend pointed out, there could have been much worse endings to that story. But I figure I’m just being prepped for the future.
So, to enter the giveaway, comment below with your BEST birthday story. Good or bad, awesome or gruesome, it doesn’t matter. Then I will pick one winner to giveaway my entire selection of e-books. There will be six in all, plus several short stories.
So give me your best, and don’t forget to include your email so I can contact you (or email me with your contact info terra(dot)harmony11(at)gmail.com). The giveaway will close Tuesday, August 19th, 2014 at midnight EST. Good luck!
This giveaway is now closed.
With five sets to giveaway, and six people that entered, I couldn’t just turn one person down! Congratulations! You are all winners. I will be contacting you via email…
Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a great holiday season. As a way to welcome all of my great new followers, and to thank all of my long-time followers, I am giving away five copies of the first two audio books of the Akasha Series. To enter to win ‘Water’ and ‘Air’, you must follow my blog by email (if you haven’t already – sign up over there on the right). Then comment below with the best thing that happened to you in 2013, and be sure to include a way to contact you in case you win.
I’ll start! The best thing that happened to me in 2013 isn’t one specific event, but rather everything falling into place. I am at a good place in life, with my family, my writing, and my job. I work hard, but am starting to reap the rewards and for the first time in a long time, I feel like everything is balancing out.
Sometimes, it’s difficult to remember all the good points in your life over the past year. Because of that, I’ve decided to start my own ‘2014 Good Things’ jar, and have each of my kids do it, too:
Get started and that way next year when I have this giveaway it will be easy for you to recall the best memories of 2014 – just open up your jar!
Now remember to comment below, sign up to follow via email if you don’t already, and leave a way for me to contact you. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to send me your contact info if you like. The contest is open internationally and will close at midnight on Saturday, January 11th.

If you are out there…I have an awesome Christmas present for you! Check it out:
Akasha ornaments – they are kinda cool, right? Please say yes because I made them myself. My plan was to post step-by-step instructions with pics that would rival any DIY craft blog, but things got a little messy. You can probably get all you need to know from this:
And by the way, the wine in the back was totally involved.
So how can you get your hands on this set of ornaments? Here’s how: send your answers to the below questions, and one fan who emails correct answers by Dec. 14th will be randomly selected. I have to give my sincerest apologies – this contest is only open to those in the US. I just shipped a bunch of books overseas and those rates are killer. So summing up; answer questions by Dec. 14th, US only. Send an email to: email@example.com.
Question 1 from ‘Water’: How did Shawn manage to overtake Kaitlyn and Susan, ending in Kaitlyn’s fateful trip to the Galapagos? (I’m specifically looking for the element used – you have a 1 in 4 chance!)
Question 2 from ‘Air’: What happens to Cato at the end of the book?
Question 3 from ‘Fire’: Where (what island) does Kaitlyn choose to hide from the rest of the gang?
Question 4 from ‘Earth’: The Akasha Series takes the reader all over the world, but near which city (or for bonus points, the exact location) does the final battle take place?
Hopefully the questions are fairly easy, it’s been a while since some of you have read the series! Again, just email the answers to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and hopefully I can get these beautiful ornaments to the winner by Christmas!
Good luck and happy holidays!
With the help of Patchwork Press, and a handful of amazing book review bloggers, we will kick off the Painted Maidens Blog Tour on October 21st. It will run all the way through November 9th with several reviews of the book, a character interview, an author interview, a dream cast reveal and a couple different guest posts by yours truly.
But the best news of the whole thing is that I will be giving away some awesome prizes; 5 lucky winners will receive a free e-copy of ‘The Rising’, one winner will receive a $10 Amazon gift card, and the grand prize is a brand new Kindle Paperwhite!
The contest runs from October 21st through November 8th and is open internationally. You can enter as much as one per day by tweeting about the giveaway. Click above to enter and good luck!
Fifteen-year-old Serena is the youngest member of a dying race. The increasing acidity of the ocean is destroying her home, slowly eating away at the once thriving underwater landscape. But since the night of Serena’s birth, it is an outside force that most threatens their dwindling population. Werewolves, who once served as protectors for mermaids in the Kingdom of the Undine, now seek to eliminate all who dwell in the ocean—and Serena is about to find herself right in the middle of the deadly conflict.
Given the title of Werewolf Liaison, Serena is determined to make things right for her people. When she ventures to The Dry, she meets Liam, the werewolf with hazel eyes, and her whole world gets turned upside down. As Serena discovers the real history between werewolves and mermaids, she is left wondering who her true enemies are.
A couple big things happening to The Akasha Series. First, the second e-book ‘Air’ will run at a promotional rate of $0.99 for the next four days (as you know, ‘Water, Book One‘, is always free across all platforms.). Be sure to get ‘Air’ at Amazon, B&N, Smashwords, or iTunes and start getting caught up with the series!
Patchwork Press is not a traditional publisher. All authors keep 100% of their rights and royalties, but by joining forces with other skilled independent authors, each book we publish as a team becomes stronger.
I’ve taken the plunge and hope to start building PWP’s First Readers Program, as well as getting my titles up on NetGalley (‘Water’ is there already, for those of you who use it).
Finally, to kick off what I think will be a long-lasting, cohesive relationship, I’m having a giveaway!

Two surprises, really. One of which is a cover reveal:
This is the cover for the ‘boxed set’ of all four books in The Akasha Series, which will be available for $9.99 shortly after ‘Earth’ is released on April 22nd. The boxed set will only be available as an e-book, but will include bonus content – short stories for each of the main characters.
Once again, a big shout-out to my cover designer, Keary Taylor for doing such a great job with this series!
Now for the second surprise. From now until April 22nd, anyone who e-mails me at: email@example.com, will receive a free advanced e-copy of ‘Earth, Book 4 of the Akasha Series’ as a .pdf, .mobi, or .epub. The hook – you must be a follower of my blog. Sign up via e-mail over there on the right, then e-mail me. If you don’t hear back within 24 hours, leave a comment here to remind me (your e-mail may end up in junk mail and I don’t want to miss anyone).
Why? Because I love you! Seriously, I love you, man. Also, I am hoping to get a few reviews up before the release date. If you do receive an e-copy, please, please, please leave a review on Goodreads, Smashwords, B&N, iTunes, or Amazon. Or better yet, all of the above, if you can. Ok – I’m staring at my inbox now, just waiting for your emails!
